A recurring look at what's happening at Shanghai's art galleries:
1. Thomas Feuerstein: Psychoprosa
The Austrian artist gets his first solo exhibition in China transforming the entire Chronus Art Center into “a studio reminiscent of a mysterious alchemist’s workshop while graefully arranged akin to a tidy and ordered modern laboratory.” Psychoprosa consists of 19 artworks that collectively create a large installation.

2. 2016 John Moores Painting Prize
The winner and the other four finalists of the fourth edition of the biennial John Moores Painting Prize (China) will be announced on March 28 at the opening of this group exhibition. Over 2,850 entires from 34 provinces were submitted. All 81 of the shortlist submissions plus the five prize-winning pieces of the 2014 John Moores Painting Prize in the UK will also be shown.

3. Lan Chong: Night of Spring Breeze
Je Fine Arts presents 20 works from Lan Chan covering his three work-series, Nirvana, Hua Hua Shi Jie and Secret Garden.

4. Botero in China
This massive show features 96 works by the Colombian legend, Fernando Botero. A giant in figurative art who has been described as “the most Colombian of Colombian artists,” Botero has won numerous awards for his paintings and sculptures. The touring show has already wowed Beijing and will take over the esteemed China Art Palace.

5. Da Vinci: The Genius
The folks behind the hit summer show Van Gogh Alive pay tribute to the Renaissance legend. This massive exhibition brings to life the genius of Leonardo Da Vinci as an inventor, artist, scientist, anatomist, engineer, architect, sculptor and philosopher. Models of Da Vinci’s ideas have been created from early prototypes of SCUBA gear to a double-flute. Digital replicas of his greatest works like the Mona Lisa will illustrate the genius behind his artistry.

6. Extravagant Imagination, the Wonder of Idleness
The always fascinating MadeIn Gallery hosts this group exhibition featuring Wang Newone (see cover image), Shi Jiayun (see above), Li Weiyi, Shen Xi, Wang Rui, Zhang Jiaxing and Tant Zhong. The Lu Mingjun curated show explores the globalization of contemporary art across multiple mediums examining whether this trend is loosening the connection between the artist and their local experience.
